FUN FACT: Quartet San Francisco performed this piece in the final round of an international tango competition in New York City in 2004. “When we finished playing we could have heard a pin drop. We knew in that moment that we had shared something special with our audience.” The quartet went on to win the competition—they were awarded the Grand Prize and the Special Prize of the First International Tango Competition, sponsored by the Argentine Consulate of New York.
